Mackie SaylorArtist & educator Mackie Saylor (she/her) is committed to developing and celebrating our communities through the arts. Mackie has worked as a teaching artist and community-based director/creator with folks ages 3 to 93 for over 12 years. She has taught or directed with CO/LAB Theater Group, Queens Theater, Broadway Bound Kids, Envision Theater, and Opening Act, as well as the Dept. of Education Broadway Jr. and Arthur Miller Fellowship programs, among others. Her practice centers belonging, access, and culture-sustaining exploration. In addition to teaching and facilitation, Mackie works as an arts administrator managing long-term partnerships with NYC public schools. She previously led Turnaround Arts: NYC in partnership with The Kennedy Center. Mackie is also a collaborator with the NYU Verbatim Performance Lab. In 2012, she co-founded Ashworth Theatre Company in her hometown of Waukee, IA, and led its programs until 2019. Mackie holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University and an MA in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt.
