Vocal Performance Workshop (Jazz)
This class is great for vocalists looking to become more familiar with jazz or musical lovers who want to gain more knowledge about the vocal jazz idiom and have a richer listening experience.
It will help you open up your voice and be fluent in the musical language of improvisation. Explore Jazz history, Jazz music theory, swing and bossa nova styles, learn the foundations of vocal improvisation (scatting), learn tunes from the great American songbook, and most importantly learn how to make a song your own.
During these 8 weeks participants will have the opportunity to workshop solo repertoire with the instructor, learn how to lead a band, and sing (and improvise) as a group. The class will culminate in a final performance where participants perform a song of their choice in a trio (voice, bass, piano).
