AWT You(niversity) tuition is completely non-refundable for any reason whatsoever. Participants who withdraw from a program more than seven (7) days prior to their first class may transfer tuition toward a future program within one calendar year from the start of the initial program purchased. Participants who withdraw within seven (7) days from their first class are not eligible for a refund of any kind, will not be able to transfer tuition towards a future program, and are responsible for the full tuition amount regardless of how many monthly payments have incurred at the time of withdrawal.
Alejandro studied Music Education and Music Business as a Classical Piano Principle and Voice Secondary at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. Alejandro was at the top of his class, working cross collaboratively with the General Education Department and the BFA Musical Theatre Department. Alejandro graduated from Frost with extensive experience in K-12 music education in band, choir, and orchestra, as well as immense knowledge of musical theatre repertoire accompanying and performing. Alejandro was able to music direct over 30 conservatory level productions for ages 7-22 at many different theatre companies and schools (including: Actor’s Playhouse, Belen Jesuit Preparatory, Lourdes Academy, Area Stage Company, Scheck Hillel Day School, University of Miami, Miami Children’s Theatre, etc). Some favorite credits as Music Director include: Beauty and The Beast, Addams Family, Little Shop of Horrors, CATS, Lion King, Frog and Toad. Incredible mentors and teachers throughout college and high school include: Leonardo Curbelo (Piano), Ana Flavia Zuim (Accompanying/Musical Theatre Repertoire), Francisco Padura (Acting), Leo Williams (Acting), John Rodaz (Acting), Matt Smart (Arranging/Orchestrating), Anthony Campisi (Music Directing/Accompanying), and Joseph Harrell (Voice).
After finishing his Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Alejandro was accepted into the Summer Music Internship program at Transcendence Theatre Company. Alejandro was able to accompany rehearsals, perform in 15-piece bands, and arrange and orchestrate so many pieces for these curated concerts. These concerts featured incredible Broadway Performers including Leslie McDonnel (American Idiot, Hairspray), Tony Gonzalez (Mamma Mia!), Shaleah Adkisson (Rent, Hair), Beth Kirkpatrick (Les Miserables), Felicia Finley (Smokey Joes), and so many others! After spending four and a half months in Sonoma County, Alejandro made the move to New York City after being recruited for a position at NYU Steinhardt as a staff accompanist. Alejandro was asked to return to Transcendence Theatre Company to assistant music direct their Holiday Spectacular, directed by Tony Gonzalez (Mamma Mia!) and Music Directed by Matt Smart (Hamilton). The moment he landed in Sonoma, NYU called and offered Alejandro a full-time position as the NYU Steinhardt Vocal Performance Administrator. Alejandro would hold this position for two years to come. Alejandro was responsible to the Vocal Performance Programs budget, logistics, schedule of classes, while also contributing to the artistic development of students and the program. Throughout Alejandro’s time at NYU, he was able to return to Transcendence over the summer, and has now been a part of 8 different production music teams out in Sonoma. Alejandro has also worked with Broadway Workshop, Applause, AfterWork Theater, Joseph Harrell Voice Studio, Broadway Artists Alliance. He’s also performed at 54 Below, Greenroom 42, and The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Quickly after leaving his job at NYU, Alejandro joined the Bridge Arts Ensemble, an organization dedicated to providing music education and concerts to upstate New York. He’s worked with so many wonderful musicians and artists because of Bridge Arts, including Kirk Knuffke, Brandon Pearson (Hair), Patricia Noonan, etc. Alejandro now coaches and freelances in the city.
