Description

Come On Get Tappy – Dance Class

Want to build your confidence in tap shoes while learning basic tap steps and technique? Come tap with Cam this summer! The goal of this tap class is to give beginner tappers the basic skills and techniques to really enjoy tapping instead of feeling overwhelmed or intimidated by it. The purpose of this class is to empower those who would love to tap and need the foundational skills to feel confident when learning tap choreography.

The last class will include a small showcase for friends and family!

Details from Cam

This class will not be a typical dance class. This is the kind of class where the folks with the most questions come to the front of the room instead of the back and where those who already know and understand a step are there to help those who need extra support. All participants will be asked to grow their compassion and patience as we work with every dancer to feel comfortable. This class will also be joyful!!! We’ll dance to songs from my “Broadway Jams” playlist (yes, this is real), and the priority will be having a BLAST and feeling great, followed by learning to tap with friends.

Class Structure

We’ll start each class with a regular stretch/physical warm-up. Then, we’ll put on tap shoes and practice a few specific steps/skills with terminology and technique. Each class, we’ll end with a short combination, sometimes building on the previous week, and sometimes learning a new combination altogether, to some really fun music using the steps we learned at the start of class. It’s all about getting comfortable with dancing in taps!
