Description
Choir Class – Summer 2022
This choir class is a space for vocalists to do what they love most…SING. In this class, we will explore the art of singing together in unison and in harmony while learning a mix of pop, musical theatre, and jazz repertoire. Each week, participants will learn a new song, work on their vocal technique in our warmups, and learn about different types of ensemble singing across genres and cultures. Participants will also have the opportunity to sing solos during our rehearsals and final performance! This class is great for vocalists of all levels who want to embrace their inner choir kid or are interested in exploring ensemble singing in a fun nonjudgemental setting.
The class will culminate in a final performance where the choir will be accompanied by a pianist. A small number of tickets will be available for an in person (vaccinated) audience, and virtual tickets will also be available.
Song Choices: Participants will receive a list of songs during the first week of class. Participants can vote on what repertoire they’d like to learn and the votes will determine what repertoire we’ll learn. The list may include any of the following (song choices subject to change):
• Here Comes The Sun (Beatles)
• Mamma Mia (ABBA)
• Wanting Memories (Sweet Honey in The Rock)
• You Can’t Stop the Beat (Hairspray)
• My Favourite Things (The Sound of Music)
• Hello Dolly! (Hello Dolly)
• Defying Gravity (Wicked)
• Every day I have The Blues (Jazz)
• Can’t Help Falling in Love
• Somewhere Over The Rain (The Wizard of Oz)
• Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You (Frankie Valli)
• You’ve got a friend (Carole King)
• In My Life (Beatles)
• Stand By Me (Ben E. King)

COVID Safety
COVID safety protocols: In light of recent CDC recommendations, we have decided to restrict participation in our programs to individuals who are fully vaccinated and have received all boosters that they are eligible for. Should you become eligible for additional boosters as the program continues, we will ask for proof of that booster within one week of your eligibility.
As of now, in order to sing in class without a mask, we will require a negative test result within 24 hours of class time. LabQ has multiple locations in all 5 boroughs and outside NYC as well. They administer PCR test with a 24 hour turnaround time, and it’s completely free.
Refund Policy
AWT You(niversity) tuition is completely non-refundable for any reason whatsoever. Participants who withdraw from a program more than seven (7) days prior to their first class may transfer tuition toward a future program within one calendar year from the start of the initial program purchased.
