Description

Beginner Ballet – Dance Class

In this class, we’ll explore basic concepts of ballet and incorporate them into various sequences at the barre, in center and in across the floor combinations.  As we progress, students will learn the structure of a typical ballet class and be able to quickly execute combinations incorporating several steps.  While there will be a strong focus on developing technique, we will also work on learning a short choreographed ballet sequence – bringing together technique, expression and musicality.

A Note from Amelia

It’s never too late to start ballet! Ballet is one of the best whole body workouts you can do for yourself. Ballet quickly improves muscle tone and balance as well as your memorization skills. Also, it gives you wonderful outlet to express yourself. Come join me as we explore this beautiful art form in a judgement free zone!

What Will We Be Doing Each Week?

Week One – Goals:
Get your tutu on! You will learn the basic composition of a ballet class. We will incorporate steps into different combinations at the barre and across the floor. As we begin dancing, we will also integrate expression.

Week Two – Goals:
You’re a soloist! You will understand the structure of a ballet class and be able to steadily increase the difficulty of our exercises. You will notice your strength and flexibility improving quickly. We will be turning, jumping and working together on a dance number!

Week Three – Goals:
Reaching for the stars! You will feel confident executing several ballet sequences and feel your technique growing stronger and stronger each week. You will also see your personal expression improving as you become freer in your body.

Week Four – Goals:
Prime Ballerina! You will continue to fine-tune steps, including pirouettes, leaps, and precise footwork. We will finalize our dance sequence and take in the rewards of your hard work. You will feel taller, stronger, more graceful and ready to take on the world!
