Cardozie Jones has spent the majority of his life as a performer, creator, and facilitator of the performing arts. A native of the City of Brotherly Love, he is a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts where he studied voice as well as appeared in countless musical and theatrical productions in and around Philadelphia.
In 2001, Cardozie migrated to New York to study musical theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Soon he began exploring ways of using theater as a tool for education, activism and social development. He began teaching and directing theater at the Williamsburg Charter High School, during which time he cultivated a passion for education and policy. Next he earned his master’s degree in Applied Theater. Cardozie is currently a fellow with the Broadway League and is completing work on an original piece of musical theater. He is proud to have directed several productions for AWT including Hairspray, Legally Blonde and our first ever Sing Out! musical cabaret.
