Green Day’s American Idiot

This Summer, step into the bold and enticing world of Green Day’s American Idiot with AWT’s Musical Bootcamp, a full-length concert reading of Green Day’s powerhouse album turned electric-rock musical rehearsed and performed in just two weeks!  If you’re looking for an intense musical experience, this one’s for you!
Johnny, Tunny and Will struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. When the three disgruntled men flee the constraints of their hometown for the thrills of city life, their paths are quickly estranged when Tunny enters the armed forces, Will is called back home to attend to familial responsibilities, and Johnny’s attention becomes divided by a seductive love interest and a hazardous new friendship. An energy-fueled rock opera, American Idiot, features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day’s groundbreaking album to execute the story line.
Once the show is cast, our professional creative team will lead you and your cast-mates through an intensive rehearsal process after work and on the weekends teaching you the entire script, plus music, lyrics, and harmony to the entire show.  Finally, cast and band will present two performances of the show in concert (no sets, very minimal blocking – mostly just lots and lots of SINGING!) for an audience of family, friends and more!  This will be a whirlwind celebration of strong social messages and endless creative possibilities!

Vocals: Lots of harmony | Dance: Very minimal if at all

“Newbie” Refund Policy

New to AfterWork Theater? We know signing up for new experiences can be scary. That’s why we are offering newbies a 100% money back guarantee if they choose to withdraw from the program before the end of Launch Day (see schedule for details). After one full day with us, if you decide this experience isn’t for you then you’ve made zero commitments, financial or otherwise. New participants who withdraw after Launch Day – including the very next day – are not eligible for a refund of any kind and will not be able to repurpose tuition towards a future program.

PLEASE NOTE: A “newbie” is defined as someone who has never participated in an AWT Mainstage, Sing Out or Bootcamp program. A newbie seeking to withdraw from the program must do so via email to info@afterworktheater.org prior to the completion of Launch Day. They may not postpone their refund request until the cast list is published. Once Launch Day is over, they are no longer entitled to a refund for any reason. Participants who withdraw after Launch Day are responsible for the full tuition amount regardless of how many monthly payments have incurred at the time of withdrawal.

Returning Participant Refund Policy

For returning participants who have previously participated in an AWT Mainstage, Sing Out or Bootcamp program, all AfterWork Theater tuition is completely non-refundable. Participants who withdraw from a program 48 hours prior to Launch Day may re-purpose their tuition toward a future program no more than one calendar year from Launch Day of the initial program purchased. Returning participants who withdraw less than 48 hours before Launch Day are not eligible for a refund of any kind and will not be able to repurpose tuition towards a future program. Participants who withdraw are responsible for the full tuition amount regardless of how many monthly payments have incurred at the time of withdrawal.
